There is no doubting that Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero delivers an unforgettable safari experience. Located in the northwest of Botswana, close to the Namibian border, the lodge provides a luxurious riverside retreat in the heart of the bush on the edge of Botswana’s Chobe National Park.

Renowned for its immense teak forest, the Park is home to the world’s largest remaining population of elephants (estimated to be around 100,000), as well as an abundance of other wildlife including buffalo, bushbuck and Puku antelope, and more than 400 species of birds, while lion, leopard and rare wild dog roam the broad plains.

Nestled high above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. But for any aspiring wildlife photographers, the highlight of any stay at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is surely the Camp’s elegant, customized boat for photographic safaris, which offers guests a spectacular vantage point for photography right along the Chobe River.

The boat’s specially designed upper deck comes complete with 360 degree swivel chairs, ideal for game-viewing on the River, where herds of elephant gather each day to drink and bathe. And when your shutter finger needs a rest, the lower deck offers a bar area – the perfect spot to retreats for a little relaxation and a delicious river breakfast, lunch or Sundowner cocktail.

The lodge boasts 15 spacious and luxurious, air-conditioned thatched and timber cottages, each with its own en suite bathroom, with a modern-free standing bath, private garden and ‘sala’ or private balcony.

And of course, a stay at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero wouldn’t be complete without a visit to its beautiful spa, the only full spa on the Botswana safari circuit, offering treatments using environmentally-friendly African spa products from Africology, as well as an indoor spa bath, Vichy Showers, hydrotherapy, plunge pool and private treatment rooms, one of which is up in the treetops.

In 2018 Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is priced from US$530 per person twin share for 1 – 3 nights, with savings of up to 35% for stays of 8 or more nights at any combination of Sanctuary Retreats’ African camps and lodges including Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero Camp.
