Lindblad Expeditions is set to celebrate 50 years of travel to the Galápagos Islands in 2017 in addition to launching two new ships and adding new destinations and experiences to the Lindblad adventure portfolio.

This momentous year will celebrate the pioneering voyage of the first organized group of citizen explorers to the Galápagos Islands by Lars-Eric Lindblad in 1967 and emphasise Lindblad’s continued focus on the importance of wildlife and the environment. With an acclaimed expedition team of expert naturalists guiding guests on in-depth itineraries, clients can gather insight on the island’s extraordinary wildlife and unique flora and fauna with up-close encounters to optimise their experience.

2017 will see two new ships added to the fleet with the 96-guest National Geographic Endeavour II replacing her predecessor in Galapagos and officially launching in January; as well as the launch of the company’s first ever new build,  National Geographic Quest, which is currently under construction in the Seattle area. The NG Quest will accommodate up to 100 guests and has been designed with over 50 years of expedition heritage. Its first sailing will be on the Treasures of the Inside Passage: Alaska and British Colombia in June 2017. And in 2018, National Geographic Quest will head to Belize & Guatemala for a unique land and sea expedition to discover Mayan ruins and the seldom seen reefs where guests will snorkel, dive, kayak and paddleboard on the new Belize to Tikal: Reefs, Rivers and Ruins of the Maya World .
