Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Galapagos Expedition Provides Chance to Learn From National Geographic Photographers

March 10, 2014 Cruise No Comments Email Email

Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic is offering guests the opportunity to learn more about wildlife photography from some of the world’s best, National Geographic photographers Krista Rossow and Annie Griffiths, on specially designated photography expeditions in Galápagos departing 13 and 20 June 2014 respectively.

The 10-day/nine-night photography expeditions aboard National Geographic Endeavour provide a chance for guests to explore the abundance of wildlife that Charles Darwin once described as “a little world within itself.” Guests will have the chance to photograph the rare wilderness where animals have no instinctive fear of humans. DSC05162

The special voyages feature outings with National Geographic photographers and Lindblad-National Geographic certified photo instructors timed to take advantage of the best light – aboard Zodiacs for up close encounters with marine mammals, or on trail hikes. Unique onboard photo clinics, one-to-one critiques and inclusive “laptop gallery” events help guests to bring their skills to the next level.

Krista Rossow has been a photo editor for National Geographic Traveller magazine for seven years. She sees the camera as a tool for understanding new cultures, meeting the locals and exploring the natural world. Krista has taught weekend photography workshops for National Geographic in Washington, DC and New Orleans.

Annie Griffiths was one of the first female photographers to work for National Geographic. She has photographed in more than one hundred countries, and worked on dozens of magazine and book projects for the National Geographic Society, as well as work appearing in Life, GEO and Time, to name a few. Griffiths is one of the National Geographic Speakers Bureau’s most popular lecturers.

In addition to the opportunity to be immersed in photography, each voyage explores several islands in this extraordinary archipelago.  Highlights include snorkelling with sea turtles, penguins and sea lions; observing rare giant tortoises in the wild; kayak and Zodiac excursions, and a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station.

Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic is also offering a $500 AUD air credit plus complimentary round-trip charter air from Guayaquil to Galápagos when guests book one of these photo expeditions before 31 March 2014*

Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic has two ships based in Galápagos year-round, National Geographic Endeavour and National Geographic Islander. Guests traveling with Lindblad Expeditions support local conservation efforts through the LEX-NG Fund, which has raised more than US$5.8 million since 1997.

Prices for the Galápagos expedition are from $5,490 to $11,910, departing every Friday and Saturday all year round. Rates are per person, in Australian dollars based on a double occupancy in a category 1 cabin.
