Local industry to photobomb #restaurantaustralia

The Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association (AMRTA) and Geographe Bay Tourism Association (GBTA) are collaboratively staging an ‘Industry Blitz’ day to rally local food, wine, beer and produce related businesses to participate in Tourism Australia’s ‘Restaurant Australia’ campaign.

Restaurant Australia is Tourism Australia’s latest marketing campaign targeting international visitors, and aims to close the perception gap of Australia’s food and wine experiences between those who have visited Australia, and those who haven’t.Aravina Chefs - Matt Black Andrew Foulsham Tony Howell - credit Tim Swallow

The ‘Industry Blitz’, to be held on Wednesday July 23 between 12 and 3pm AWST, is a three hour period during which local industry in the Margaret River Region is encouraged to bombard social media with photos, linking in with the hashtag #restaurantaustralia.

The AMRTA’s Marketing and Communications Coordinator Victoria Johnson said that the purpose of the blitz was two-fold.

“Our aim is to, for a select period of time, dominate the social media activity of #restaurantaustralia with delicious content from the Margaret River Region – to raise the profile of our region as an exceptional venue for food and wine experiences,” said Ms Johnson.

“Basically we want the local food and wine industry to photobomb the #restaurantaustralia hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a three hour period. Images should be centred around people, produce and/or place, which are the core themes of the Restaurant Australia campaign.

“Secondly, we are hoping to effectively create a ‘deadline’ of July 23 to remind our local industry members to get their Restaurant Australia submissions in, as there is no deadline for submissions currently so we are trying to dispel complacency,” she said.

Local industry are encouraged to upload as many images as they like on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between 12pm and 3pm on Wednesday July 23, ensuring to link in posts/tweets with #restaurantaustralia.

The AMRTA and GBTA marketing teams are also available to assist local members with their social media.

“We want to create the world’s biggest conversation not just about Australian food and wine, but about the Margaret River Region’s food and wine!” said Ms Johnson.
