It’s official – love is coming to the town of Margaret River, and locals are invited to be a part of the action!

Southern Star Entertainment and Channel Nine have officially chosen Margaret River as the launch episode destination for new reality show ‘When Love Comes to Town’, and planning is well underway for the film shoot which kicks off at the end of this month.

Hosted by Natalie Gruzlewski, of smash-hit shows ‘Getaway’ and ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’, the heartwarming new series will feature 12 single city girls who are heading to the furthest corners of Australia to find ‘the one’.

The producers have been scoping the Margaret River region for filming locations, and Hay Shed Hill winery in Wilyabrup has been chosen as the official venue for the arrival scene.

Locals and visitors to the region are invited to be a part of the arrivals shoot on Friday 1st November at Hay Shed Hill, where the grounds will be set up with a farmers market-style feel with local producers and stalls.

People will be able to browse and mingle with local stallholders, as well as getting the first glimpse of the 12 single city gals and the two local guys they will date.

Rachael O’Connor of Hay Shed Hill advised that people are welcome to come to Hay Shed Hill from 1pm onwards to be an extra on the scene.

“We are encouraging locals and visitors to the region to be a part of this film shoot – we need plenty of people to make it look like a busy market scene,” said Ms O’Connor.

Executive Producer Trent Chapman advised that this was the perfect opportunity for locals to be the stars of the show.

“Margaret River is such a spectacular location, and we’re all really excited to be filming in the region. We’re encouraging all locals to turn up for the arrivals scene at Hay Shed Hill – the more the merrier!”

The Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association is a major partner of the production, assisting with aerial transport, filming locations and logistics.

AMRTA Chief Executive Officer Pip Close said she was delighted that the Margaret River region had been chosen as one of the towns for the show.

“We are really excited to be hosting this show in Margaret River, particularly for the launch episode – it’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful region to the whole of Australia,” said Ms Close.

“In the last couple of years we’ve had Drift, Masterchef, My Kitchen Rules, Farmer Wants a Wife, and recent film Kill Me Three Times – Margaret River is really making a name for itself as a prime filming location, and it’s not hard to see why!” she said.

The concept of the show is based on the girls meeting and dating two of the most eligible bachelors in several towns around the country, learning about their lives, passions and the unique connection they have with their local community.

The girls will meet the bachelors’ friends and families, and spend time in what could be their new home. Ultimately, they must decide whether to stay in town and pursue a relationship, or try to find love in the next town.

Andrew Backwell, Nine’s Director of Programming and Production said that the feel-good reality romance series “would play an important role in Channel Nine’s 2014 schedule, and, hopefully, help single Aussies from every corner of the country find true and lasting love.”

Filming at Hay Shed Hill will be on Friday November 1st from 1:00pm – 3:30pm. Extras are encouraged to just turn up on the day, or for more information contact Siobhan Dampney, Southern Star Entertainment on (02) 9202 8924 or email To secure a lunch booking on the day at the Hay Shed Hill Deli Café, contact Hay Shed Hill on (08) 9755 6046.

When Love Comes to Town is scheduled to go to air in 2014.
