Long Haul Group launches Long Haul Spa™ – at the intersection of beauty and travel.  Skincare created specifically to combat the ravages of an overseas flight. Formulated in New Zealand.   Vegan, paraben free, cruelty free and suitable for sensitive skin.

Brisbane, Australia – April 23, 2019

Long Haul Group has launched Long Haul Spa, the only skin care kit created specifically for use at altitude on long haul flights. With a suite of products, a beautiful case and a plethora of information inside, Long Haul Spa was designed to keep every Long Haul Warrior hydrated and glowing.

Founder Christine Keeling explains the motivation for creating Long Haul Spa – “As a software executive representing North American organisations in the Asia Pacific market, I spent a lot of time flying back and forth between Australia and the US. Anyone who has taken those flights knows that they are a shocker – 14 to 17 hours just for the LAX piece – plus wherever you have to transit to next. For me it was always 5 or 6 additional hours in the air plus layover time to get to final destination.”

“The humidity level on an aircraft is generally 10-20%. By comparison, the Sahara Desert is 25%. And the cabin is pressurised for 6-8,000 feet – basically a mountain top. The knock on effects of all of this are that by the time I got to my destination I looked and felt parched, exhausted and dull. And with the timezone change, I was either expected to walk straight into a dinner engagement in North America, or a full day of meetings when I reached Australia. So I started putting a “sanity/self-care” kit together in advance of these flights. Something that not only guaranteed that I got to destination feeling as good as possible, but also gave me something to look forward to and, frankly – something to do. It’s your home spa night – it just happens to be on a plane.”

“There are lots of travel size kits available but they are really designed for use at destination, where you have fresh running water, towels and all of the other things that you would find in a hotel bathroom. None were designed specifically for use in the constraints presented in-flight. We looked in every airport duty free shop, at all of the usual skin care retailers, online….nothing. And I was asked about my kit by both crew and other passengers, and saw other women doing what I was doing – scrambling through duty free on the way to the gate – looking for something that was going to save them. And how many times have you bought something in one duty free, just to have it confiscated by transit security at the next airport because the size exceeds TFSA limits? Tears…. ”

Long Haul Spa contains 8 x 15 ml products formulated in New Zealand specifically for use in the rarefied aircraft cabin environment, sanitizing wipes and dehydrated towels for use with the products, all in a beautiful Louenhide bag. Everything about the collection has been done with TFSA standards in mind, right down to the 1 litre clear plastic bag, included just in case.

After formulation and testing of the products, the collection was beta tested with women from around the globe who were travelling internationally in September and October of 2018. Feedback was gathered on every element of Long Haul Spa, and changes were made based on that feedback.

Long Haul Spa is currently available online at www.longhaulspa.com, at the Auckland International Airport and select retailers in Australia . Discussions are in various stages with duty free organisations, and airlines for inclusion in loyalty programs. “I think that there would be something really exciting about being able to order Long Haul Spa when you book your flight and then have it delivered to your seat before the doors close. It makes that flight experience so much more special, and it is an interesting points spend option as well.” said Keeling.

Long Haul Spa retails for $129 AUD/$99 USD. A men’s kit will be available in May.
