Loyal Dining now reopens its doors in Wan Chai

The six-year Loyal Dining has moved from Central on 21 July and officially re-opened its doors in Wan Chai today, bringing authentic Hong Kong dining experience infused with the city’s unique history and traditions.

“I wanted to bring the nostalgic flavours of Hong Kong in the 1960s and 70s that embrace traditional history and East meets West culture especially the uniquely Hong Kong Soy Sauce Western-style of cooking to Hong Kongers and  international visitors. Loyal Dining brings an authentic Hong Kong dining experience where we want to re-introduce Hong Kong’s classic dishes and creating the feeling reminiscent of the sweet old days, while younger generation can also have a taste of old times,” says Cherry Lo, Executive Director of bma Catering Management.

Located at Tonnochy Road in Wan Chai, with an appreciation of East meets West design, patrons can enjoy a selection of Hong Kong style bar snacks and exciting cocktails starting on street level at the intimate cosy ground-floor Loyal Bar.

Reminiscent of old Hong Kong, step into Loyal Bar for a true Hong Kong experience. Loyal Bar has a host of new classic Hong Kong cocktails include Loyal Iced Tea (HKD 105).  The cocktail is inspired by “Iced Lemon Tea,” a much-loved favorite drink of the locals, is a refreshing combination of vodka, rum and lemon tea. The Ovaltine Fizz (HKD 105) is a mixture of Baileys, Kahlua and Ovaltine. Try The Joy in Childhood (HKD 105) made with rum, Kahlua, coke and chocolate ice-cream is sure to bring up happy childhood memories. The Deep-fried Prawn Toast and Special Thick Toast (A beloved toast by famous Hong Kong actor Mr. Chow Yun Fat with preserved bean curd and sugar together with peanut butter) will serve as bar snacks along with other Hong Kong bites throughout the day for guests to munch on while enjoying their classic cocktails.

Travel upstairs to the more intimate restaurant Loyal Dining, the relaxing restaurant offer a meeting of East meets West and is designed in an retro yet minimal contemporary style. Heading up the culinary team at Loyal Dining since opening for six years is Executive Chef Liu Chi Hung who has over 40 years of culinary experience and previously worked in different prestigious hotels in Hong Kong. “Loyal Dining is derived from the idea of revisiting the colonial era when East meets West. We hope to bring back Hong Kong classic dining experience abounding in tradition and history. Our menu takes a classic approach to Hong Kong cuisine with a pinch of creativity,” says Chef Liu.

Loyal Dining maintain its original chef team and will continue to bring the favourite signature dishes including Loyal Chicken Wings Simmered in Homemade Sweet Soya Sauce, Crispy Pigeon, Baked Kurobuta Pork Chop with Fried Rice & Sunny Side Up Egg and Seared Foie Gras and Homemade BBQ Pork served with Rice & Sunny Side up Egg. Chef Liu has refreshed Loyal Dining’s menu with the launch of some new delectable dishes to compliment the much-loved a la carte menu. The highlight is Soufflé with Beef Ribs Curry Rice (HKD 148), which draws inspiration from soufflé, an all-time childhood favourite that reminisce old memories. This layered dish features tender beef ribs balanced by rich curry sauce and enhanced by the velvety smooth soufflé. Loyal Deep-Fried Fish Fingers in Sweet Corn Sauce (HKD 138) is deeply fried to tender and golden enhanced by homemade corn sauce extracted from freshly corn juice, finished with a freshly baked puff pastry which adds texture and dimension. New signature dishes to whet the palate include Waldorf Salad served with Homemade Deep-fried Shrimp Balls (HKD 108) – this delicious dish is made by homemade shrimp balls and fried to golden and crispy, guests can enjoy together with seasonal fruits; Seafood Laksa served with Garlic Bread (HKD 138) brings full of oriental flavours with its beautiful composition of various seafood in an spicy Laksa sauce.

If meat is your fare, the Beef Brochette Flambe with Garlic (HKD 238) is a fine choice using U.S Angus Tenderloin with rich garlic sauce is highlighted by the brandy. For a truly indulgent dining experience, the Giant Sizzling Plate(HKD 698) is sure to be the highlight of the night. The 20 inches long lavish sizzling plate offers four pieces of 3 different kinds of meat including Grilled Australian Sirloin Steak, Grilled Spring Chicken and U.K. Tenderized Pork Loin, The natural-fed tenderized pork loin combines the rich flavour with the profound tenderness by innovative technology resulting in a perfect moisturizing balance of meat. The irresistible sizzling plate also goes with German sausages, bacon, sunny side up eggs, baked potato, broccoli, tomato and zucchini, it is a perfect sharing dish up to 4 to 6 people for family and friends gathering. All of the meat can be complimented with 3 different sauces including gravy sauce, black pepper sauce and garlic sauce. During opening period, the Giant Sizzling Plate is priced at only HKD 498, it is limited daily and in first come first served basis. For those with a sweet tooth, Loyal Dining offers two new desserts such as the irresistibly smooth Loyal Ovaltine Soufflé  (HKD 98) andLoyal Banana Split  (HKD 68) with red bean, tofu and mango ice-cream, are the perfect finale to the satisfying Hong Kong dining experience.

At Loyal Dining, diners can also enjoy dim sum for lunch every day and during weekends, especially not to miss the attractive custard buns in chicken shape. A number of the new dishes are also available on Loyal Dining’s newly revamped lunch menus offering greater variety, a must-try is Homemade Barbecued Pork Rice with Sunny Side Up Egg (HKD 88), freshly roasted from the succulent pork collar meat marinated in homemade sauce paired with Holland sunny side up egg and scallion oil is crispy on the surface and tender will sure to delight and satisfy.  Set lunch menu prices start from HKD78 include other options such as Spaghetti Bolognaise with Wagyu beef, Baked Seafood Rice in Lobster Sauce and 3 selected Dim Sum and Rice set.

With interiors by Maggie Mo of Pasha Design, the relaxing, sophisticated Loyal Dining and Loyal Bar have impressive design elements brining an authentic Hong Kong dining experience that reminiscent of old Hong Kong.  The restaurant and bar is designed in a retro yet contemporary style with the use of warm tones and nostalgic green oil leather banquettes throughout the whole interior. Hanging above the restaurant is a row of antique chandeliers that lights up the space, coordinated by the plaid wallpaper and champagne color mirror, together with olive green oil leather sofas, the marble table and a stylish semi-private room surrounded by glass panels of embolden Loyal Dining monogram. Stepping into Loyal Bar, the stunning backlit onyx glass bar table is contrasted with the green oil leather banquettes, golden lights and table trimmings. These elements all create a classic yet stylish atmosphere, highlighting the restaurant and bar’s overall nostalgic feel.

The 900 square foot space seats 75 people in the Loyal Bar and spacious 2,250 square foot restaurant can seats 126 people for dining and guests may opt for the semi-private dining room that seat over 30 people for parties and events
