Starting on 27 March 2018, Lufthansa will reintroduce the route between Singapore and Munich. This service will be available five times a week with the most modern long-haul aircraft of the world, the Airbus A350-900. In addition to increased capacity out of Singapore, the innovative new aircraft raises the benchmark on efficiency and travel comfort, reaffirming Lufthansa’s commitment to its customers. Singapore becomes the first destination in Southeast Asia to receive Lufthansa’s A350-900.

“I am really pleased with this development as we offer another possibility for our customers to fly to Europe via our five-star Munich hub with a premium aircraft. Singapore is one of our key gateways in Asia, especially connecting our customers from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia,” said Heiko Brix, Senior Director Sales Lufthansa Group Southeast Asia and Pacific. He continued, “Our customers’ demand for flights between Singapore and Europe has seen a consistent growth over the years and now, with the right aircraft type, it makes the most commercial sense to reintroduce this route.”

The new route will be operated five times weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The flights depart in Munich late in the evening and arrive in the afternoon of the next day at Singapore’s Changi Airport. The flights from Singapore leave late in the evening and arrive in Munich early the next morning.

In comparison with similar types of aircraft it consumes 25 percent less fuel and produces 25 percent fewer emissions. The noise footprint is up to 50 percent smaller than comparable aircraft types. The aircraft offers Lufthansa’s best on-board product, assuring passengers the highest level of comfort in all travel classes, with a wider cabin, new seats in Economy Class, bigger windows, large TV screens, innovative mood lighting, personalized playlist and much more. The Lufthansa A350-900 is configured to seat 293 passengers: 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.

The features offered by the on board entertainment system on the Airbus A350-900 are likewise leading edge. To make use of this functionality, passengers simply download the “Lufthansa Companion App” onto their own tablet or mobile phone. The on board program is available up to six weeks in advance. Once on board the Lufthansa Airbus A350-900, passengers synchronize their personal favorite playlists with the screen in front of the seat, and they even have the option of using their own mobile device as a second screen.

Lufthansa is the first airline worldwide to use a range of different settings for the on-board lighting of the A350-900 which are designed to fit with the day and night-time biorhythms of the passengers by providing the right type of light at the right time. Lighting effects will also be used to emulate a pleasant restaurant atmosphere on board during mealtimes. Altogether, the new A350-900 LED technology can provide around 24 different lighting settings.

With 22 gateways in Asia/Pacific, Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels and Eurowings is the leading European airline group in the region. In Asia-Pacific, Lufthansa Group flies to 22 destinations in 9 countries, offering a total of 261 weekly flights from Asia-Pacific to Europe.
