Luke Nguyen Supports APT’s New South East Asia Program

In his foreword in the new APT Vietnam & Cambodia brochure, which hits travel agents shelves tomorrow (16 October), celebrity chef, Luke Nguyen, announces he is to continue as APT’s Ambassador for the award winning luxury cruise and tour operators program in 2014/15.

Says Luke, “As part of my involvement with APT, I’ll be hosting a further two APT holidays to Vietnam in 2014, during which I look forward to sharing some personal stories, local customs and a selection of culinary experiences.”

APT Vietnam & Cambodia 1415 Cover HRAs well as hosting two 20-day tours, he has also created a special banquet for all guests sailing aboard APT’s river ship, the RV AmaLotus – built exclusively for the company in 2011 – as part of their luxury lower Mekong cruise. In addition, all guests who book a tour of 12 days or longer will enjoy an exciting dining event at Saigon’s exclusive Xu Restaurant, which Luke has helped to shape.

New for 2014

As well as announcing Luke’s continued involvement, APT can confirm that new additions to its Vietnam & Cambodia program include:

– A new three-day luxury cruise in World Heritage-listed Ha Long Bay. Featured on eight of the 10 itineraries in the new brochure, guests sail aboard the Indochina Sails Premium ship around the thousands of limestone karsts in the Gulf of Tonkin, taking in the stunning scenery. The luxury cruise includes Tai Chi classes on deck, a visit to the bay’s largest floating fishing village, a kayaking tour to Bai Tuong Bay, bike rides and beaches at Ngoc Vung Island and the chance to see the stalactites at Sung Sat Cave.

– Exclusive six-day Upper Mekong river cruise aboard the Mekong Sun in Laos, sailing from Luang Prabang to Tha Deua and back, taking in temples, Pak Ou Caves, a jungle village and local school and Kuang Si Falls. This cruise features on four of the itineraries. 

– New Freedom of Choice™ touring options including a Vietnamese cooking class in Saigon, a Khmer cooking class in Siem Reap and the chance to lean traditional Cambodian dancing in an Aspara dance class.

The brochure features a total of 12 itineraries covering Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Laos, and Thailand. Highlight inclusions comprise all flights within Asia, Freedom of Choice dining and sightseeing, the services of a dedicated APT tour or cruise director, all tipping and airport transfers and porterage. Aboard the RV AmaLotus, APT’s luxurious lower Mekong river ship, guests also receive complimentary international house wine, local beer and spirits and soft drinks at all times, and a private butler service and twin balconies are available in more than 90 percent of suites.

Lead-in itinerary is the 12-day Vietnam & Cambodia Highlights. It comprises two nights at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers in Saigon, an eight-day boutique Lower Mekong river cruise from Saigon to Siem Reap aboard the RV AmaLotus and two nights at the award-winning Hotel Sofitel Angkor. Priced from $4,395 per person, twin share, highlights include ‘Signature Experiences’ such as a degustation dinner with matching wines served at Saigon’s Xu Restaurant; a champagne sunrise at Angkor Wat; and on the cruise, a three-course Vietnamese banquet personally designed for APT guests by the company’s Vietnam ambassador, celebrity chef Luke Nguyen. Sightseeing also includes a visit to a remote evergreen island to see authentic Mekong life, receiving a Buddhist blessing at the monastery in Oudong, a tour of Phnom Penh, an ox-cart ride through villages and rice paddies and a visit to an orphanage outside Siem Reap.
