Marie France Van Damme, the Hong Kong-based designer known for her globally-influenced line of luxury resort, swim, and ready-to-wear, has partnered with Paris-based fashion house Jay Ahr (a.k.a designer Jonathan Riss) to launch a limited- edition capsule collection consisting of three bags: Small Clutch ($800 USD), Medium Clutch ($1050), and Caba ($1900). Designed to seamlessly match Marie France Van Damme’s 2017 Resort Collection, the limited series of bags can be found exclusively at Marie France Van Damme’s boutiques as of the second week of January, 2017. The material, a soft leather – is texturally rich and multi-layered. Available in a sophisticated metallic color palette of gold, black, bronze and silver, the collection in collaboration with Jay Ahr highlights Marie France Van Damme’s love of metallic with a carefully constructed or deco (?) influence.

The specially-made bag incorporates a new weaving technique for Marie France Van Damme and Jay Ahr’s iconic braiding techniques and intricate leatherwork. These three new styles are reinterpretations of Jay Ahr’s classic Milk bag, which first launched in 2009 at the Jay Ahr Studio in Paris. (Its name is an acronym for what the bag can carry: money, iPhone or ID, lipsticks and keys.)

“Jonathan blends traditional Chinese art and craftsmanship with modern Western techniques, inspiring others along his journey. We share a passion for beautiful fabrics and elegant embroidery. I was honored to collaborate with Jonathan. This collection matches our DNA and is the perfect accessory,” said Marie France Van Damme. This exclusive capsule collection is the latest addition to the Marie France Van Damme brand, which has rapidly expanded since its inception in 2011 to include an impressive range of ready-to-wear, resortwear, swimwear, sunglasses, perfume, and candles. The designer launched a seventh namesake boutique this December 2016 in Hong Kong’s prestigious Elements shopping mall, which is Marie France Van Damme’s second Hong Kong store. Her collection of resort wear can also be found in leading department stores and boutiques worldwide including Harrods, Selfridges, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue and in her namesake boutiques in Hong Kong, Bangkok, London, Singapore and Phuket.  Marie France Van Damme launched a sunglasses collection in 2016.
