Stayz, Australia’s original holiday rental website, has today revealed the winners of its 2019 Holiday Home of the Year Awards, with a luxury shipping container in Victoria’s Hepburn Springs taking out the top spot as this year’s recipient of the coveted People’s Choice award.
The architecturally stunning People’s Choice winner, Paris Villa, unsurprisingly also took first place in the Unique category of the awards. The winners across the remaining three categories were:
- Design: AERIE private wilderness retreat in Tinderbox, Tasmania
- Pet Friendly: Sunningdale House in Victor Harbour, South Australia and
- Family Friendly: Fingal House in Rye, Victoria
The breathtaking Paris villa, which is named after one of the world’s most romantic cities, boasts a sheer glass floor with waterfall and rockpool views. Other standout features include a Tasmanian blackwoood bath, an original mural by renowned street artist Matt Adnate, and a Tesla destination charger. This is the second time the owner of the Paris villa has taken out the People’s Choice award, having won the same title for another of his Stayz properties, Clifftop at Hepburn, in 2017
The annual Holiday Home of the Year Awards recognise Australia’s best holiday homes across various categories and this year’s gold, silver and bronze winners were selected from a list of finalists by interiors royalty and General Manager of Foxtel’s Lifestyle group of channels, Wendy Moore and the young winner of Stayz’ junior judge competition, Ruby Parker. The People’s Choice is the best of the best as voted by the Australian public.
Out of the five Australian states home to the gold, silver and bronze properties, Victoria really shone with five homes in the mix, even taking out all three medals in the Family Friendly category. New South Wales closely followed with four properties recognised, followed by one each for Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.

My own holiday wish list has certainly grown throughout the judging process!”
