Two Wanaka luxury retail brands have ‘popped-up” at Queenstown Airport, expanding the airport’s commitment to regional food, beverage and retail offerings.

Emerging luxury handbag brand, Common People, took up its pop-up residence last week, making it the company’s first physical store.  While iconic and established Wanaka apparel brand Mons Royale is in the midst of their second winter season at the airport.

Queenstown Airport Property and Commercial Manager Mark Samways said the company always strived to support local businesses that showcase the best the region has to offer.

“We’ve long supported local Queenstown businesses and as part of our regional search we now have two strong Wanaka brands bookending the domestic arrivals hall”, said Mr Samways.

“Our goal is to provide customers with a real sense of place and a memorable experience when they visit and fly to or from Queenstown Airport. Reflecting the best our region has to offer is key and we’re pleased to be able to represent Wanaka with two unique brands.”

Common People owner and designer, Jodie Calder, said: “We’re super excited to be a part of such a welcoming environment at the airport, to meet and greet those interested in the brand and to contribute to the promotion of Wanaka and the NZ fashion industry.”

In response to customer feedback for more variety in the terminal offerings, Queenstown Airport launched its pop-up strategy last winter hosting a number of local businesses including Taco Medic, Chunky, All Press, Hikari Sushi and Cupid Coffee.
