Madagascar and Seychelles discuss the big island’s participation at the 2015 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria in Seychelles

Seychelles-TravelEric Koller, the President of the Madagascar Tourism met with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to discuss the big island’s participation at the 2015 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria that is staged annually in the Seychelles.

Eric Koller led his island’s delegation to the last edition of the carnival in April and said that he realised the potential for Madagascar tourism to be well represented in the carnival in Seychelles in order to increase the needed visibility of Madagascar on the tourism stage.

2014 Madagascar with Eric Koller on Carnaval 2015 2Eric Koller said that he wants Madagascar to be not only present, but prepared to showcase Madagascar tourism at each and every event that appears on the vanilla islands calendar of Events.

“The Carnaval in Seychelles is covered by such a large number of International Press and we need to be prepared to benefit from such an opportunity available on our very own door step. We participate in tourism trade fairs looking for visibility for our island’s tourism industry. This costs us a small fortune, but following my own participation at the carnival in Seychelles, I have realised that we have to maximise our presence at the Seychelles carnival and in so doing get more visibility for our country’s tourism industry” said Eric Koller, the President of Madagascar Tourism.

Madagascar has also said that it believes in putting it culture at the centre of its tourism promotion for the long term consolidation of tourism in Madagascar.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture has said that Seychelles is happy to see that Madagascar will remain a strong supporter of the Seychelles carnival. “Our carnival remains the Seychelles event that appears on the Calendar of Events of the Vanilla Islands. We appreciate the support of the other member states of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands. These events are helping to position our region as the new tourism region in the Community of Nations” said Alain St.Ange.
