Well known to travel agents around Australia in her senior role with Rail Plus, Ingrid Kocijan has taken on a new challenge – joining an adventure company claimed to be the world’s largest, with over 2000 employees in 23 offices worldwide.

The company is G Adventures, which yesterday announced Kocijan’s appointment as director of sales for Australia and New Zealand. She will take up her new role from 2 January 2018.

Having worked in the Australian and New Zealand travel industry for over 10 years – at Rail Plus Australia, then as Australasia Manager for Rail Europe and most recently as Commercial Director at Rail Plus – Kocijan brings a wealth of industry knowledge to her new role.

Director of sales is a newly created position for G Adventures in this region. Kocijan will join national sales manager Matt Drummond and a team of Global Purpose Specialists (GPSs), whose collective focus is to provide outreach, education and sales support for the Australian and New Zealand travel trade.

Kocijan said she was “excited to be joining such a purpose-driven company, and one that is committed to changing people’s lives through the power of travel.

“Travel agents are pivotal to G Adventures’ company mission, and I look forward to helping our travel peers and partners learn more about this amazing company.”

G Adventures Australia and New Zealand managing director, Adrian Piotto, says he looks forward to welcoming Ingrid to the G Adventures’ team in Melbourne in early 2018.

“Ingrid has a proven track record of growing sales through trade relationships. She brings an impressive knowledge of the industry, strategic vision coupled with extensive sales and marketing experience into the G Adventures business.”

“As a business, we have continued to see significant growth across the Australian and New Zealand region, and through the appointment of Ingrid as Director of Sales, we plan on further cementing our commitment to our valued travel trade community.”

Outside the office, Kocijan enjoys walking, baking, yoga and is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). High on her personal travel wish list with G Adventures: Egypt, Morocco and Antarctica.

G Adventures, which offers affordable small group tours, safaris and expeditions to more than 100 countries on all continents, was the first adventure travel company to offer 100% guaranteed departures in 2013.

It was founded in 1990 by Bruce Poon Tip, who says he established the company “with nothing more than two credit cards and a burning desire to create an authentic, sustainable travel experience like nothing the world had ever seen”.
