The Malaysian Tourism industry’s determination to survive and succeed in the face of adversity is borne out by the country’s latest tourism and travel statistics.

Tourism Malaysia’s aggressive promotional efforts and commitment from industry players in line with the celebration of 2015 Malaysia Year of Festivals have contributed to solid tourism figures for the first quarter of the year, despite a challenging twelve months.

Malaysia is the ideal holiday destination. Packed with attractions, experiences and activities, from postcard white sandy beaches to UNESCO World Heritage sites, from eclectic cities to adrenalin pumping adventure activities and abundant rainforests, the Malaysian experience is hard to beat.

And according to Malaysia’s Immigration Department, almost 6.5 million tourists agree. From January through March 2015 the country recorded a total of 6,482,696 tourist arrivals. While this number was down slightly on the same period during Visit Malaysia Year 2014, tourism arrivals are on par with 2013, notwithstanding substantial flooding affecting some parts of Malaysia early in January.

Australians also continued to be amongst Malaysia’s top 10 tourist-generating markets for the quarter, with the country remaining a popular holiday destination for Aussies notwithstanding economic uncertainty has seen a tapering off in overseas travel elsewhere.

The figures are reassuring, but unsurprising according Tourism Malaysia’s Sydney Director, Roslan Abdullah. “Malaysia remains one of the safest, most politically stable and value-for-money destinations in South East Asia right now,” he says. “And with unparalleled diversity in terms of our tourism offering, we can accommodate just about every type of traveller, including families, sun-seekers, honeymooners and adventure lovers. Plus we are not much further away than Bali.”

So for your chance to truly experience Malaysia’s diversity and for a chance to really immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of one of Asia’s most intriguing countries, visit, be inspired and book your holiday now.
