MAPFRE has been elected to the board of the Affiliate Members Program of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Elected through a ballot of candidates, the board is an advisory body to the Secretary-General and contributes to the definition of the UNWTO strategy, goals and work programs. Nearly 500 companies and public and private organizations form part of the Affiliate Members Program and use their vote to elect the 23 board members.
The ballot papers for the elections to the board of the Affiliate Members Program, which resulted in MAPFRE being elected as one of the members of the board, were counted during the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held from September 12 to 17 in Medellín, Colombia, and attended by more than 900 delegates from 120 countries, including more than 70 tourism ministers and secretaries of state.
MAPFRE, which has been an affiliate member of the UNWTO since 2013, represented by MAPFRE ASISTENCIA, also hosted a working lunch at which it presented the principal conclusions of the second edition of the Travel Insurance Observatory (TIO).
