Artisans in the Margaret River Region in Western Australia are set to open the doors to their art studios in a regional-first trail of discovery for art lovers.

Margaret River Region Open Studios is a 16-day event scheduled to run over the Easter and Anzac Day period 2014, and offers visitors and locals the rare chance to visit studios which may not otherwise be open to the public.

Providing a vibrant feast of visual art in the Margaret River Region, the event will allow people to meet artists in person and view their works in progress.

Stretching from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin and east as far as Sues Road, visitors will be able to simultaneously explore the beautiful Margaret River Region of WA.

Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association (AMRTA) Chief Executive Officer Pip Close said that the AMRTA was proud to sponsor the event.

“This is a wonderful initiative – it draws together a wide range of established artists as well as showcasing lesser known local talent,” said Ms Close.

“There will be huge scope for people to discover and enjoy the Margaret River Region’s original artworks,” she said.

Eighty or more artists, painters, printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers, photographers and textile artists will be exhibiting at over 50 different venues throughout the region, giving visitors the opportunity to not only meet and talk to them, but to view and purchase their work.

Throughout the16-day period art enthusiasts can move from venue to venue, with free entry to any of the studios.

Each open studio will be clearly identified on the maps in the event catalogue which will be available online and widely distributed in the run up to the event.

Margaret River Open Studios runs from April 19th to May 4th, 2014. The event is proudly supported by the Augusta Margaret River Tourism Association.
