Marie France van Damme To Open a Pop-Up Shop At the Exclusive Bal Harbour Shops

Marie France Van Damme, the Hong Kong-based designer known for her globally influenced line of luxury resort, swim, and ready-to-wear, continues to expand her presence worldwide with the opening of a pop-up store at Bal Harbour Shops on January 17, which will operate through June 17. While many luxury brands are shying away from retail, Marie France Van Damme continues to open new stores across the globe, focusing on cities that not only inspire the designer, but also appeal to her sophisticated, jet-set clientele. In September 2017, the brand launched its first U.S. boutique, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, and in January 2018, opened its tenth store, located at La Mamounia in in Marrakech, Morocco.

Located on the second floor of the Bal Harbour Shops (9700 Collins Ave, Bal Harbour Shops, Unit 203, Bal Harbour, FL 33154) next to Saks Fifth Avenue, the new 1000-square foot pop-up shop will offer Marie France Van Damme’s exclusive collections of ‘Dolce Vita’ essentials including day dresses and evening wear; resort wear, bathing suits, and caftans, so as to provide the best of both worlds: luxe day resort wear, and chic evening looks. The boutique will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.

With a return to the glamorous roots of resort wear, Marie France’s sophisticated luxury resort wear and ready to wear lines are made for Florida and the contemporary Miami beach lifestyle. “Miami is a vibrant fashion capital. Like me, our customer travels around the world, and she needs to find things that will look beautiful during the day as well as at night; from the beach to a cocktail or dinner in the evening,” says Marie France Van Damme. “We are honored to open our first boutique in one of the world’s most exclusive luxury shopping destinations. It has always been a dream of mine to open a store at Bal Harbour Shops. We have many clients in Miami and will now be able to provide an exceptional environment to present our latest collection.”

Inspired by the ‘Dolce Vita’ lifestyle, the new collection offers subtle yet striking options for day and night, with its muted palette of silver and gold, hand embroidery, and opulent fabrics; from French lace to metallic-toned Italian weaves and featherweight Chinese silks. Whether it’s evening wear or a day dress, silk caftan, city pyjama, or swimwear, Marie France Van Damme’s philosophy remains the same: “What you wear should always give you glamour. Glamour without the fuss and bother,” says the designer.

In keeping with Marie France Van Damme’s signature aesthetic, which blends subtle Asian    influences and elegant simplicity, the boutique will feature teak wood, bronze panels, and embossed crocodile leathers with luxurious textiles and finishes that can be found in her home as well as her flagships in London and Hong Kong. To celebrate the opening, the store will host a series of special events and introduce an in-store campaign photographed in Hong Kong by Herbert Ypma. In July, Marie France Van Damme will present her new 2019 collection during Miami Swim Week (July 12 to 15, 2018).

The new Miami pop-up boutique is the latest addition to the Marie France Van Damme brand, which has rapidly expanded since its inception in 2011 to include an impressive range of ready-to-wear, resort wear, swimwear, sunglasses, perfume, and candles. The company opened its very first store in Hong Kong’s acclaimed International Finance Centre (IFC) mall in September 2013. Four years later, Marie France Van Damme has eleven stores worldwide, proving that small curated stores are still very relevant. The company currently has 100 retail locations in some of the world’s most desirable places, including Le Bon Marché, Harrods, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, Neiman Marcus, and such exclusive resorts as Aman and One&Only, among other locations worldwide, as well as stores in London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, and Phuket.
