Marriott Hotels In Hong Kong Continue To Support Earth Hour 2014

March 24, 2014 Responsible Tourism No Comments Email Email

Earth Hour, an annual global event organised by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) since 2007 is held on
the last Saturday of March from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

The event aims to encourage households and
businesses to turn off all non-essential lights for one hour to celebrate their commitment and also to
raise awareness of the need to protect the planet.

The five Marriott hotels in Hong Kong: JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, Renaissance Harbour View
Hotel Hong Kong, Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong and
Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong Sha Tin will once again jointly participate in the Earth Hour on
Saturday, 29 March 2014 between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Some of our concerted efforts include the
following:

1. Turn off all non-essential lighting at the back of the house area, offices as well as hotel facade
2. Dim all non-essential lights in selective restaurants
3. Encourage hotel guests to switch off unnecessary lights in the room or when out
4. Encourage hotel guests to reduce usage of linen and laundry
5. Stop operation of selected escalators*
6. Hotel designated restaurants and bars will “go dark” and use candles*
7. Live entertainment in the lounge or bar will go acoustic*
8. Recommend event guests to take up special sustainable menus and reduce lighting for 1 hour*
9. Special Earth Hour Food and Beverage promotions, including cocktails at HK$60 per glass and
dining discounts up to 60% off*
10. Introduction of low carbon menus at the restaurants*

*Applicable at participating hotels only. Kindly check with respective hotels for more details.

Please join us as we support Earth Hour with these meaningful initiatives. Pledge your support and
dedication to save energy and ultimately, the earth.
