Marriott International has once again been recognised for its commitment to exceptional quality and service, taking home four awards and multiple commendations at the 2019 HM Awards.Craig S. Smith, President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific, took out the esteemed title of Asia-Pacific Hotelier of the Year at the industry’s night of nights. The award comes in recognition of his remarkable leadership during what has been a significant year for Marriott in the region – the company relaunched Marriott Bonvoy, its travel program, and continues to grow its footprint, targeting 1,000 hotels and resorts open in Asia Pacific by the end of 2020.

Sean Hunt, Area Vice President for Marriott International in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, was Highly Commended as Australasian Hotelier of the Year, a testament to his ongoing commitment to the growth of Marriott International’s hotels and associates in the region.

Neeraj Chadha, Multi-Property Vice President Fiji & Samoa was recognised as South Pacific General Manager of the Year in acknowledgment of his commitment to his teams and the success of the properties in his region.

Raphael Szurek, Chef de Cuisine at Silvester’s at Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel, was named Best Hotel Chef, an exciting accolade as Marriott continues to focus on food and dining in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel was also named best Business Hotel.

The company also celebrated a number of commendations in the following categories:

  • W Brisbane – Hotel Interior Design
  • Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park – Meetings and Conferencing Property
  • Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay – Fijian Property
  • Pier One Sydney Harbour – Marketing Campaign (for its Pier One Igloo Project)
  • Ace Mamun, Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel – Communications Associate
  • James Mashman, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Central Park – Hotel Engineer
  • Marriott International – Accommodation Chain

These awards and commendations come as Marriott International continues to grow its footprint in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific region. The company operates 32 hotels in the region, with a further 22 in the pipeline – including more than 10 openings expected in 2020-2021 alone.
