Cape Town, 24 June 2019: Marriott International welcomes its fourth property and the third Protea Hotel in Uganda to the brand’s growing presence in the country with Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz joining the portfolio. The hotel is strategically located in one of the most sought-after areas in the city with easy access to diplomatic and corporate headquarters, and a 30 minute drive from the airport.

The 141-room property will meet the increasing demand for quality lodging in the city. It features upmarket accommodation including a Presidential Suite and a variety of restaurants and bars including Chapter Two and the Tropicana Pool Deck. Set to become a social hub in the city, the hotel boasts a unique rooftop cocktail bar, Ninety9, featuring stunning views of the city. With a strong business focus, the hotel has 13 boardrooms and two conference rooms that can serve up to 150 guests, as well as a fully equipped business centre.

“The impressive economic growth in Uganda will give an impetus to our growing portfolio in the country said Volker Heiden, Vice President Protea Hotels by Marriott, Marriott International, Middle East and Africa. “With Real GDP growth of over 5% in 2018, the future looks bright for Uganda. We anticipate a significant increase in business travel to the country and this hotel will add to our capacity in the country to cater to this growing demand.”

Marriott International currently operates Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala, Protea Hotel by Marriott Entebbe and Sheraton Kampala in Uganda.
