Mexican mad 2012 MasterChef heroes Andy Allen (winner) and Ben Milbourne will travel to Mexico to experience Intrepid Travel’s Real Food Adventure, where they will capture the sights, sounds, food and drink of the country on film for an exclusive YouTube documentary series to be released on Andy’s own channel in early 2014.

Intrepid Travel is giving one lucky fan the chance to win a spot on the trip with the boys, including return flights, when they tell Intrepid what their highlight on the Mexican Real Food Adventure would be and why at

Featuring authentic, local, grassroots food experiences, the Mexican Real Food Adventure will see the two MasterChefs taco-crawl through Mexico City, sample regional cheese, chocolate and crispy grasshoppers in Oaxaca, sip on artisanal mescal at an old-world mezcaleria, and soak in the colours of local markets.

Andy and Ben will encounter real food experiences that will develop their knowledge and passion for Mexican cuisine, which will go towards a new Mexican themed cookbook they will begin working on together next year. Meanwhile, Ben will be releasing his debut cookbook, Mexican Craving, onNovember 1 based on his own research into the cuisine he most loves. He feels the next step on his gastronomic adventure – to visit Mexico – will undoubtedly refine his skills in cooking Mexican food.

“From the moment Andy and I met we have been talking about going to Mexico, and now that we are actually doing it is a bit surreal,” said Ben. “Our love of Mexican food is based solely on books and an Australian take on Mexican flavours. To finally get the chance to taste and experience authentic Mexican food and culture will be literally a dream come true.”

“Going on Intrepid’s Mexican Real Food Adventure will guarantee we actually see what REAL Mexican food has to offer, and I’m excited to be able to share it with everyone back home on my own YouTube channel,” said Andy. “I’m hoping that not only will Intrepid show us the best Mexican street food there is, but perhaps also the best Mexican Tequila there is!”
