Mat McLachlan Battlefield Tours launches new tour ‘WW2 in Australia’

Mat McLachlan Battlefield Tours are excited to launch a unique battlefield tour right in our own backyard. The tour begins and ends in Sydney, and is escorted by an expert WW2 historian, who will bring this important chapter of Australian history to life.

Departing from Sydney, the tour travels to Canberra to spend time at the Australian War Memorial, one of the world’s greatest military museums. The next day is spent at Temora Aviation Museum, enjoying flying displays from a range of the museum’s aircraft. The next morning the tour departs for Cowra, home to Australian’s largest Prisoner of War camps during the war, and visits Cowra War Cemetery, POW Camp and POW Theatre. On the final morning passengers will enjoy a farewell breakfast in the beautiful Japanese Gardens before travelling to Lithgow, home to Australia’s most important arms manufactory for more than a century, to enjoy a guided tour of the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museums extensive collection of firearms. In the afternoon the tour will end at a central drop-off point in Sydney.

The WW2 in Australia tour, departs from Sydney and runs for 4 days on multiple dates throughout 2018. Cost is $1197 per person twin share, and includes all accommodation, transport, guiding services by expert war historian, all entrance fees as per itinerary, breakfast daily and welcome dinner.

2018 departure dates: May 18, June 8, August 31, September 20 – special Cherry Blossom Festival departure (Note: non flying day at Temora Aviation Museum), October 12– special Warbirds Downunder departure, November 10, November 30.
