Mauritius is warming up for the Indian Ocean Windsurfing Championships

July 24, 2013 DESTINATION No Comments Email Email

Scattered like pebbles in the Indian Ocean beyond Madagascar, 2000 kilometres off the east coast of Africa, with endlessly stretching white beaches and protected by the third biggest coral reef of the world, Mauritius offers the perfect setting for those who have a passion for water sports:

Warm water, white sandy beaches, tropical lagoons and clear blue skies that make the “Jewel of the Indian Ocean” windsurfing paradise.

Le Preskil Hotel is the official hotel partner for the event and is perfectly situated to do so. It is located on a natural private peninsula along the South East coast of Mauritius near the historical village of Mahebourg. Of typical Creole architecture Preskil is a true haven of peace set in a luxuriant tropical garden overlooking an idyllic white beach. The resort borders a lagoon of crystal clear blue waters which leads to the marine park of Blue Bay and offers panoramic views over the Lion mountain and the outer islands.

Another highlight of the week will be the Malibu Beach Party which will be held on 3rd August at one of the most stunning sceneries of the island: “Le Morne” Cultural Landscape, located on a peninsula on the southwest side of the island mostly surrounded by the sea. It has been designated UNESCO World Heritage site and is described as an associative cultural landscape, for its powerful cultural associations with the natural element rather than material cultural evidence. Its visual dimension is a crucial part of its importance.

Apart from windsurfing Mauritius is the perfect situation for other waters sports as well such as kite-surfing, deep-sea fishing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling.
