Meet me in Vienna

egtmedia59Judith Settele is from Vienna, she works with the Vienna Convention Bureau and is visiting Melbourne and AIME for the first time; so today she talked with EGlobal about Vienna, and the business of meetings, conventions and conferences.

Asia Pacific is growing in importance to a city like Vienna, and the people who promote it, as they try to expand their reach beyond the traditional MICE markets of Europe and the USA.  China and India (two of the five BRICK’s) are growing in influence and as a result the rest of the Asia Pacific region is opening up as well.  Ergo – a trip to Oz and to AIME is high on the agenda.

Vienna has a huge number of attractions for tourists, but can those attractions be used to attract corporate visitors and those attending meetings and conferences.  The answer according to Judith is a resounding YES!

“Vienna has conference and meeting capacity for large and small conferences;” she tells us, and with it’s history, the locals love of fine food, the amazing coffee culture and its easy accessibility, from almost anywhere; Vienna at the heart of Europe is an attractive proposition.

Vienna offers more than 150 venues, three convention centres, over 90 conference hotels, some truly magnificent palaces and museums, some trendy event locations plus over 55,000 beds spread over almost 30,000 hotel rooms.  In other words Vienna can cope with large groups and loads of people.
