TAITRA MEET TAIWAN has announced the winner of the 2015 Asia Super Team competition. AFTR from Australia defeated five other businesses in the grand final and walked away with a $50,000 USD incentive travel package for Taiwan. As part of the prize, MEET TAIWAN will also donate $5,000 USD to a charity chosen by AFTR; Cambodian Women’s Development Agency.
The Asia Super Team competition finalist tour in Taiwan saw six elite businesses embark on a CSR adventure across Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Chiayi. The teams were tasked with various challenges, including performing Taiwanese opera, making eco-friendly soap out of waste oil, and working like farmers and salt workers in their bamboo hats and bare feet. All contestants demonstrated team spirit, put creativity on display and experienced Taiwan’s MICE offering in an interactive game setting.
The finalist companies who took part were AFTR, a tech startup from Australia; Above Creative Events, an event management company from Malaysia; Bun Corporation, a second-time contestant and a large restaurant franchise from Japan; Glam Lounge, one of the largest dining, hospitality and entertainment groups in Korea; Kaimay Trading, a leading Singaporean foodstuff trader in Asia-Pacific region; and Meeting Point Asia, a destination marketing agency from Thailand.
At the final press conference held in TICC, the six finalists used a combination of presentations, a video showcase, instrumental performances and short play to convey their knowledge and passion for Taiwan’s CSR-themed incentive travel and demonstrate the reason why they deserved to be the ‘Asia Super Team’.
Janet Hsieh, TV host of TLC’s Fun Taiwan, joined the business contestants for the second year as the Ambassdor to promote the beauty of Taiwan’s MICE environment, which is largely undiscovered by business travellers.
Asia Super Team: Team Up for Good (asiasuperteam.meettaiwan.com) is the second edition of TAITRA MEET TAIWAN’s business competition designed to promote Taiwan as an exciting destination for incentive travel. More than 100 businesses from across the Asia Pacific region entered the contest, which opened in June 2015. Six finalist teams were selected through both public voting and a professional judging board who reviewed their proposals. The proposals comprised an itinerary which incorporated participants’ understanding of Taiwan’s MICE offering and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
China Airlines supported the initiative with 12 return tickets to be won by online voters.
