Video Reveal New Horizons for MICE

Under the “Taiwan MICE Industry Pilot Program”(MEET TAIWAN), the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy Affairs(MOEA) of Taiwan commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to enhance the international image of Taiwan’s MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions) brand and strengthen the international competitiveness of the Taiwan MICE industry.

A series of four PR videos were produced this year (2014) targeted at four key themes: “Overall image”, “International conferences”, “Corporate conferences and incentive travel” and “Exhibitions”. The videos will hopefully capture the professionalism and diversity of Taiwan’s MICE environment. 1413355164098-1
During the production of the videos, filming carried out at various important exhibitions in Taiwan. These included shooting on location during the TAIPEI CYCLE, COMPUTEX TAIPEI and PV Taiwan shows. Foreign buyers were also interviewed to highlight the strengths of Taiwan’s MICE industry. International convention venues, incentive travel destinations, important sights, industry clusters, well-known hotels, restaurants and transportation facilities were also filmed at the same time to give the local industry tools for international bids.
The “Overall image” video focused on the concept of “Taiwan, the Place to Meet” to promote the overall image of Taiwan’s MICE industry. The short 4-minute video succinctly covers all four dimensions of Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions. Apart from the beautiful sights and gourmet food that Taiwan is renowned for, the video also emphasized local cultural elements such as people, art and culture as well as the diverse MICE environment in Taiwan.
The “International conference” and Incentive travel” videos were shot as micro-films with a narrative format used to highlight the strengths of Taiwan’s MICE environment. “International conference” took the form of a presentation in a bid to host an international conference in Taiwan. “Incentive travel” featured people in the industry sharing their experience of  hosting corporate conferences and incentive travel in Taiwan. The “Exhibition” video took a look at Taiwan’s advantages for hosting exhibitions including prime geographic location, convenient transport infrastructure, world-class exhibition halls, world-renowned industry clusters and government support.
With Asian countries all aggressively developing their MICE industries with an emphasis on national charm, urban development and tourism, the MICE industry in Taiwan has grown rapidly with the support of the government as well.  The “MEET TAIWAN” program helped bring 170,000 foreign MICE participants to Taiwan in 2013, creating 635 million USD (19.1 billion NTD) in business opportunities.  The bid to shine on the international stage is also the best time for global marketing.  “MEET TAIWAN” hopes that these 4 PR videos will capture perfectly the brand spirit of MICE in Taiwan and enhance the MICE brand image of MEET TAIWAN, giving a boost to local MICE businesses bidding on international conferences and at exhibitions.
