MEET TAIWAN’s 2017 Highlights

Bawarchi Chidlom, Bangkok’s leading destination for fine Indian cuisine, is proud to announce the launch of a new “Creative Cocktails & Curries” menu as part of our “Far Flung Flavors of India: Food & Cocktail Pairing” promotion taking place from now into the foreseeable future. Guided by a desire to bridge the gap between Thai food and Indian cuisine, Bawarchi has paired several popular, yet unique dishes along with several brand-new signature cocktails.

Curries play an important role throughout the world, yet India and Thailand both have an enduring food culture that embraces and incorporates curries as a mainstay of their diet. Whether enjoyed as comfort food that reminds one of home, or eaten as part of a traditional family or holiday meal, curries have a revered status that is appreciated by many people. Although the spices used in the curries are markedly different, the custom of communal dining and enjoying cuisine that is bursting with flavor is one that both communities share.

Bawarchi is now highlighting our signature prawn curry Tawa Jhinga Masala along with our Nri Ice Tea cocktail which is inspired by the iconic Long Island ice tea and is a formidable concoction made with made with rum, gin, vodka, tequila, fresh star fruit, grenadine, black pepper, fresh red chili, and kokum syrup.  This is an amazingly bright and refreshing drink that never lets the alcohol dominate the palate and subtly enhances the well-developed ingredients and succulent shrimp in the tomato-based Tawa Masala Curry.

Guests are invited to customize their spice level from mild, medium or hot in the curry to match their own personal preferences. The curry itself is light and fragrant and incorporates a special whole peppercorn imported from Bengal which imparts a truly unique flavor. The prawns are also marinated and cooked separately in the tandoor oven until they take on a gentle smoky aroma and are added to the curry at the last minute so that the prawns are never overcooked.

The menu additionally highlights the Hyderabadi Biryani which is a famous Nizam style braised lamb and rice dish made with saffron-hued basmati, hand-picked by Chef D. S. Rana to find the longest grains, and cooked in a Dum (traditional Indian brass pot). This is paired with a seductive white Russian inspired Masala Chai Martini cocktail made with chai tea, Bailey’s Irish Cream, vodka, nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.

The biryani is a labor-intensive dish inspired by Punjab cuisine and incorporates unique touches such as ghee instead of oil, special black cumin seeds imported from India and homemade rose water.  Whether planning a special occasion meal for family and friends, entertaining business associates or nourishing your body and soul with everyday dining, there is no better place than Bawarchi to enjoy the authentic flavors of India.
