A new four-star resort is currently under development in Melbourne’s Northern region, just outside of Mickleham and is set to be a world-class tourism facility like no other.

Marnong Estate, set to open in April 2018, will offer historic homestead accommodation, Day Spa, 250 guest capacity Event Space, a 250-seat restaurant, a vineyard, brewery, piazza, farmers market and an operational farm producing first-class Angus Cattle.

The new luxury resort is excited to announce that its Bankvale Run Restaurant will officially open its doors to the public April 2018 with Executive Chef Matt Coates leading the way.

Matt is returning home to Melbourne after spending six months as Executive Chef at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. Before his stint in Sydney he has operated the kitchens at leading Melbourne hotels such as Crown Casino Melbourne and Intercontinental Melbourne.

Talented and dedicated to his craft, Matt is excited to be returning home to Melbourne and leading the team at Marnong Estate’s Bankvale Run with a menu that reflects the unique “Paddock to Plate” theme of the restaurant.

His approachable menu will be inspired by fresh, high quality ingredients and offer first-class Angus Cattle that is produced and farmed on the property.

Bankvale Run will offer a stylish contemporary setting with expansive views of the property and surrounding Macedon Ranges. It is designed to seat 250 guests and will be a place for families, corporates, visitors, friends and couples to celebrate and enjoy magnificent food and wine.

Rich in history, the restaurant was named after the original area that existed before the Marnong property in the 1840’s. From descriptions, it appears that the present Marnong property is situated on a small portion of what was the southwest part of the area.

Located on 1,100 acres and only 15 minutes from Tullamarine Airport, Marnong Estate will offer size and scope that is not found in any other hospitality and leisure destinations in regional Victoria making it Melbourne’s one-stop resort destination for local, interstate and international visitors.

The resort sits high on the hills with expansive views overlooking the valley between Deep Creek through to Emu Creek and the surrounding Macedon ranges. Marnong Estate’s first grapes from the surrounding 35-acre vineyard will be picked in early 2018 highlighting a range of cooler, climate, Mediterrean-influenced varietals such as: Sangiovese, Vermentino and Montepulciano – to name but a few.

Luxury accommodation will be offered in the historic homestead on the property, that was originally the family home of William Angliss built in the 1860’s. The plans for the homestead will see it restored and developed into a 4.5-star hotel accommodation.

Stage Two and Three of the development will also see a new vineyard, micro-brewery, cellar door, farmer’s market, coffee roasting house, a spa health and wellness centre, complete with a children’s playground & petting zoo.

“Marnong Estate is in the truest sense of the word – a community facility. It is the long-term vision and dream of a local developer and will be built and enjoyed by Melbourne’s northern resident’s community and greater population, attracting a greater percentage of tourists to this region”, says Gerald Ackroyd.
