To celebrate the special occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited is co-hosting the Melco Star Macaoyouth talent competition with the National Conditions Education Association (Macau). The event will showcase the vitality and talent of Macau’s younger generation after the establishment of the Macao SAR, and to demonstrate the great success of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ constitutional principle.

Co-hosts, Mr. Kent Wong, Chief Advisor of Melco Resorts & Entertainment and Mr. Jack Wang, President of National Conditions Education Association (Macau) welcomed guests of honor including Mr. Liu Bin, Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ms. Zhu Ting, Deputy Director of Public Diplomacy and Information of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Mr. Luís Gomes, Division Head of the Department of Youth, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; and Mr. Zhou You, Rector of the Macao Conservatory’s Schools of Music, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; to the event opening held today at Studio City.

Today, we are pleased to inaugurate the “China in Childhood”-themed Melco Star Macao talent competition in collaboration with the National Conditions Education Association (Macau) in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR. Through the competition, we hope to develop local creative talent, enhance national pride and the sense of belonging for young people in Macau and thus strengthen their appreciation for the People’s Republic of China.”

A talent competition to shape Macau’s rising stars

According to the organizers, the “China in Childhood”-themed Melco Star Macao competition focuses on traditional Chinese culture and will recruit participants from the city’s secondary and primary schools, kindergartens and community groups. The selection process includes an initial and secondary audition, followed by semi-finals and finals, from which the competition’s prize winners will be nominated by the expert judging panel. Performance categories are diverse and include but are not limited to performances in singing, dancing, musical instruments, musical bands, recitals, Cantonese opera, martial arts, fashion shows, local intangible cultural heritage, and original acts. Both group and individual applications are accepted. Participant categories include Children’s Group (4-12 years old), Juniors Group (13-17 years old), and Youth Group (18-22 years old), and entry is open to all citizens of Macau between 4 to 22 years of age.
