Melia Bali is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Dewi Karmawan as Director of Marketing Communication.

The graduate of International Hotel and Management Institute, Lucerne, Switzerland has amassed experience in marketing and business development where she was first given the trust to share her strategic marketing direction as Assistant to Marketing Communications Manager.

Dewi commenced her career in the hospitality world since 21 years ago. In 1997 she started all her journey with the first little step as a Guest Relation Officer at the Le Meridien Nirwana. She was then took the opportunity as Senior Guest Relation the position which then brought her to Marketing Communication Coordinator and finally to Assistant Marketing Communication Manager.

Her determination in marketing and communication is clear. Dewi expanded her bright career path to a bigger scale as she decided to join Grand Hyatt Bali as Public Relations Manager for three years and started the new adventure as she joined Park Hyatt Melbourne, Australia.

Between tight schedule, the Balinese-born valued the opportunity to teach Balinese dance in Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies (CERES), Melbourne. “Seeing the students showed their interest in learning our culture has made me so proud. It was fun and I enjoyed that moment so much,” Dewi recalls.

In 2010, Dewi decided to return to her home country and joined Anantara Seminyak Resort & Spa, Bali, in October as Marketing Communications Manager, overseeing both Marketing Communications and Public Relations aspects. After two years, she then joined Bali Hyatt as Public Relations Manager. Prior joining Meliá Bali, Dewi spent five years with InterContinental Bali Resort.

“Building and maintaining good relationship with business partners has been the main key to my career,” Dewi shares.

The mother of two children enjoys her spare time with travelling, listening to music, designing outfits and play with beads making accessories.
