Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort, a 152-room and 61-villa five-star property poised on a beach within easy reach of Ho Chi Minh City, will celebrate its grand opening in April.

Heralding a new era for Meliá Hotels International, the resort is the first property to open in southern Vietnam under the Meliá Hotels and Resorts brand and the fourth for Vietnam.

Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort joins Meliá Hanoi, Meliá Danang and Meliá Ba Vi Mountain Retreat as part of the Spanish company’s burgeoning portfolio. Plans call for Meliá Cam Ranh Bay and Meliá Saigon Central to open in 2020.

With a design that pays tribute to contemporary aesthetics and traditional Vietnamese touches, the resort is blazing new ground in Ho Tram, a two-hour drive from Vietnam’s largest metropolis.

When the 17-hectare resort marks its grand opening on April 20, after a soft launch March 15, it will cut the ribbon on a host of world-class facilities such as three restaurants including a beach club, three swimming pools, a swim-up bar, a coffee shop, a 10-treatment room spa, an executive lounge, a ballroom and conference facilities, a kids club, gymnasium, gift shop and more.

“Ho Tram is fast developing a reputation as Ho Chi Minh City’s answer to New York’s Hamptons, Rome’s Naples and Sydney’s Blue Mountains; a go-to retreat where the well-heeled flock for a getaway that’s close by, upscale and restorative,” said the resort’s general manager Manuel Ferriol Argent.

“With 500m of ocean frontage, this tropical setting is all the more spectacular as the sun rises to the left and goes down to the right in an incredible arc over the East Sea each day,” he said.

Shaded by 1800 coconut palms, the resort’s design deploys a neutral palette of colours as a complement to Ho Tram’s sandy shore. Its high ceilings and floor-to-roof glass panels take advantage of the natural surrounds and abundance of sunshine.

In a fusion of Eastern and Western elements, striking artwork capturing everyday scenes in Vietnam adorns the resort. Doorwomen and waitresses wear bold, creative ao dai designed by Spanish outfit Chula Fashion. The vast semi open-air lobby makes for a dramatic first impression with views of a reflecting pool, a lake bordered by villas, and ocean at the horizon.

Surrounded by mangrove forests and the Ray River, Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort basks in an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius year-round and is within close proximity of the Greg Norman-designed Bluffs Ho Tram Strip golf course, Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve and Binh Chau Hot Springs. Located 100km from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the resort is easily accessible from Ho Chi Minh City and beyond.

The 152 rooms and suites and 61 villas afford unencumbered views of the ocean, lush gardens, lakes and swimming pools, including the 1,491sqm main pool anchoring the resort.

Ranging from 220sqm to 465sqm, all of Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort’s two-, three- and four-bedroom villas have their own private pools, BBQ areas, outdoor showers and gardens, living areas and separate dining areas. Terraces and/or balconies jut from every villa. The Level Three- and Four-Bedroom Villas, the leading accommodations, directly front the beach and provide access to a lounge as well as other private areas such as a pool.

Inland from the villas, the resort’s Tower hotel building offers up sweeping views of the resort and sea from every room and suite, which range in size from 47sqm to 88sqm.

Four distinct food and beverage outlets, Breeza Beach Club, Muoi, Sasa and Elyxr café, and a swim-up bar make for a diverse culinary landscape luring casual and fine diners alike.

Destined to be “the place to be” in Ho Tram and referencing the beach clubs of Ibiza and Bali, Breeza is situated right on the beach and will host live music, DJ sets, themed parties, and fire and dancing shows.

The YHI Spa includes 10 treatment rooms, two of them double rooms with jacuzzis, as well as sauna and steam baths and open-air relaxation areas. Aqua aerobics, Zumba, yoga, meditation, stress remedy and sleep workshops and healthy culinary lessons are among the wellness pursuits.
