In exciting travel news, the great southern city of Memphis has topped another travel list being named by TripSavvy’s Editors Choice Awards as the Best Place to Go in 2019.
After the analysis of 60,000 hotels, restaurants and attractions around the world to identify the best spots for every type of vacation – Memphis topped the list for the overall best place to travel in 2019.
Memphis has certainly come alive in recent years with the city best known for its music legacy and rich culinary scene bursting with activities for everyone. This year the city will celebrate its bicentenary during its month long Memphis is May celebration.
New attractions such as the once abandoned Crosstown Concourse is now filled with dozens of newly opened restaurants, along with the Railgarten which was once an overgrown yard, now operates as an adult playground offering a tiki bar, ice cream parlour, diners, a sandbox for live music.
Explore historic elements such as the Memphis Pink Palace Museum which recently re-opened its doors with a new look, and the iconic Sun Studio, once the recording home of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. The Peabody Hotel is still one of the cities biggest attractions, with crowds gathering daily to watch the Peabody Duck Parade.
For those who love the outdoors, why not take a walk down the iconic Mississippi River and stick around for the cities brand new Mighty Lights show that illuminates the famous Mississippi Bridge at night. Or stop by the local Memphis Zoo to check out the spacious new exhibit on hippos.
