“This year we wanted to take a completely different direction with the hero image and push it to interesting and very stylish heights,” explained Festival Director, Lindsay Bennett.

“The hero image really sets the stage for the Fashion Festival and we aim to create something truly new and exciting each year. This amazing illustration by the talented Megan Hess is like nothing we’ve ever done before. It’s the epitome of chic.”

Hess is renowned worldwide for her illustrations, featured on book covers such as Candace Bushnell’s iconic Sex and The City, in leading high-fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for major fashion labels the likes of Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Lanvin, Balenciaga and many more.

“The Fashion Festival is a week of elegance and style while celebrating the beauty of fashion and we believe that Megan’s illustration truly captures this,” said Mr Bennett.

A chic illustration featuring some of the hottest Spring/Summer colour trends, the hero image draws upon vibrant shades of pink. The vivid hues are on-trend and at the same time encapsulate the brightness and optimism of the new season, and the thrill of a fashion runway.

“Having grown up in Brisbane, it was such an honour to be asked to illustrate the key visual for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane,” said international illustrator, Megan Hess.

“There is such an enormous amount of talent in Brisbane today and it always amazes me how many creatives, who were originally from Brisbane, are now working at an international level.

“My inspiration for the illustration was all about the beauty and optimism that comes with Spring. Soft pink and blush tones mixed with delicate blooms,” explained Ms Hess.

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane will grace the runway from Sunday 24 – Friday 29 August 2014. Details of our new program, featured designers and ticketing information will be released in the coming weeks. Visit www.mbff.com.au.
