Best Western International Inc., the world’s largest hotel family, will host its annual convention at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) in Toronto, Canada October 7 to 10, bringing more than 3,500 hotel professionals to the city.

The four-day convention, one of the larger ones held at MTCC in 2014, is expected to generate $10 million in local spending, a boon to the city and province’s economy.

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is located in the heart of Toronto, just steps from world class dining, entertainment and attractions.

“Toronto is a city that is recognized globally as a fantastic place to visit,” said Todd Thrall, director of Meetings and Events at Best Western International Inc. “World-class restaurants, great nightlife and theatre make it a great destination, and, with Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s downtown location, all of this is just steps away for our international guests.”

While the majority will be visiting from across North America, many conference delegates will be flying in from more than 50 countries worldwide. “Toronto is easy to fly in and out of, a positive experience for travellers,” said Thrall.

The MTCC was selected not only for its enviable urban location, but because of “its infrastructure, telecommunications capabilities and outstanding catering,” a triple threat for convention success. The largest single-branded trade show will also be a major part of the convention, showcasing more than 400 exhibitors that offer products or services hotels might use.

“The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is pleased to attract large-scale events, such as the Best Western International Convention, where they serve as a platform for Toronto to showcase itself as a world-class city,” said Barry Smith, president & CEO, Metro Toronto Convention Centre. “Toronto always delivers and in doing so, realizes significant financial benefits when put on the world stage.”
