Mezzatesta joins The Star Sydney as Chief Operating Officer of Hotels, Food & Beverage and Retail

The Star Sydney has appointed Dino Mezzatesta to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hotels, Food & Beverage and Retail.

Responsible for overseeing the strategic vision for the leisure and entertainment assets at The Star Sydney, Mr Mezzatesta will lead the hotel, retail, food & beverage and property services teams to enhance the property’s offering, and deliver ongoing growth.

Greg Hawkins, Managing Director of The Star Sydney commented on this new appointment and key property enhancements that Mr Mezzatesta will be overseeing.

“With more than 30 years’ experience in the corporate travel and leisure markets, Mr Mezzatesta is deeply experienced in hospitality and hotel management, team leadership and setting solid strategic direction.

“As a key tourism destination, our customers come from all over the world and we endeavour to provide them with a truly unique experience here at Sydney’s only world-class integrated resort.

Dino Mezzatesta, will commence as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hotels, Food & Beverage and Retail at The Star Sydney in December 2016.

“We are delighted to have Mr Mezzatesta on board, especially as The Star is undergoing significant redevelopment to boost our hotel, food and beverage and retail offering.

“The Star Sydney’s transformation is currently underway, including the $130 million refurbishment of Astral Tower and Astral Residences set for completion in early 2017. The new hotel will offer contemporary opulence with high end suites, a lavish lobby lounge, state-of-the-art club lounge, new meeting rooms and a comprehensive business centre.

“At the same time The Star is conducting a design excellence competition for a hotel and residential tower at its existing Pyrmont property. The project, pending all necessary approvals, will include a six-star hotel component to be operated by The Ritz-Carlton,” said Mr Hawkins.

Commencing in his new role in December 2016, Mr Mezzatesta commented on his vision for the operation of hotels, food and beverage and retail at The Star.

“I look forward to working with The Star Sydney to achieve our shared vision to provide exceptional guest experiences as a global tourism leader. From the world-class casino to onsite luxury accommodation, outstanding chefs, signature restaurants and bars, to the high-end retail precinct, there is so much on offer at The Star and I am delighted by the opportunity to work closely with the team to further enhance the property’s local and international reputation for excellence,” said Mr Mezzatesta.

Prior to joining The Star, Mr Mezzatesta gained industry and management experience working with Accor Hotels over the last 11 years in various executive roles, including GM Franchise Hotels – Asia Pacific, GM – Mirvac Hotels and Resorts Integration, VP of Operations, Franchise and Strata and most recently as CEO Accor Plus – Asia Pacific.
