Malaysia Airlines has said there is no truth to the article by Malaysia’s New Straits Times, Business Times, several days ago that reported our Company would close several departments for a day on 28 May 2014.

Operations will run as normal.

We have written to the said media indicating our displeasure that article was written based on quotes from unofficial sources. The article has caused unnecessary anxiety among our customers and our staff alike.

The Business Times has today published that it “regrets any inconvenience caused to Malaysia Airlines and its customers due to the said article”.

Yesterday also, we sent out a media statement touching on the intense speculation on the possible course of actions to be undertaken by our Company following the MH370 incident.

At this juncture, a thorough review of the business plan is being undertaken and all avenues are being explored to ensure the long term sustainability of the Company.

As always, the plan will be shared with the relevant stakeholders at the appropriate time when the necessary approval and endorsement have been obtained.

Malaysia Airlines operates a total of 81 frequencies weekly from the Australia/New Zealand region servicing triple daily from Sydney and Melbourne, daily from Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland and 14 times weekly from Perth and 4 times weekly from Darwin to Kuala Lumpur*.
