MICE Facilities Development Throughout The Country Sees Continuous Growth

For the past decade, the Philippines has seen significant growth for its MICE sector facilities. Ranging from hotels, convention centers, and other venues, this development of the country’s MICE facilities is projected to continue for several years to come. As of June 2017, TOPHOTELPROJECTS reports that more than 10,000 rooms for 37 hotel projects are to be constructed in the country in the next five years.Parts of this growth are major real estate groups continuing to expand their roster of properties all over the Philippines.

This year, leading property developer Megaworld Corporation, the creative genius behind Newport City in Metro Manila and the Mandurriao Business Park in Iloilo, will open two hotels in Luzon, namely Savoy Newport Hotel with 684 rooms and Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo with 93 rooms.

Megaworld will likewise expand its properties portfolio with noteworthy projects in the Visayas region, Savoy Hotel Boracay Newcoast and the Marriott Courtyard Hotel, seeking to ante up the MICE offerings in Iloilo by juxtaposing a reputable five-star hospitality brand in the vicinity of the impressive Iloilo Convention Center.

Adding to their Seda Hotel in Bonifacio Global City and Iloilo, the Ayala Group eyes to open three new Seda Hotels this year at Quezon City and Palawan; and three more in 2018 at Makati, Taguig and Bacolod. The centuries-old corporation is promoting sustainable development for the country while keeping true to its name, which is synonymous to quality and luxury in the Philippines. Its pet project in El Nido town, the Lio Tourism Estate, will certainly draw like-minded individuals that are passionate about ecotourism while enjoying the world’s most beautiful island destination, as voted by Conde Nast travelers in 2017.

Filinvest Land, Inc., a pioneer builder of mixed-use properties in the country, is scheduled to open two new Canvas Hotels and another Crimson Hotel in Quezon City, Mactan and Boracay respectively. Four new Quest Hotels in Quezon City, Dumaguete, and Negros Oriental will significantly increase the accommodation capacity in the Visayas between 2018-2019.

Newcomer Double Dragon Properties, a game changer in the continuing enhancement of the reclaimed area of Bay City, thru their Hotel of Asia, Inc. arm is set to open Hotel 101 in Davao City by 2020. With an astounding 519 rooms, Hotel 101 will be the biggest hotel to open in Mindanao.

Other notable venues commencing business in 2018 are the Mercure Manila Ermita which boasts 500 rooms and Westin Manila Bayshore that would have an anticipated 600 rooms and nine function rooms. To further the development of quality MICE facilities, two SMX Convention Centers are noted to open in Cebu and Clark, bustling centers of business and trade, the following year.

With all these developments, the Philippines is undoubtedly becoming Southeast Asia region’s MICE destination of choice. Truly, fun works in the Philippines!
