MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series Star-Studded Line-up Announced for 2017

Following a successful launch in October 2016, Robert Parker Wine Advocate has announced details of the 2017 MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series. From February until October, discerning Hong Kong and Macau foodies will have the opportunity to savour menus from international and local culinary luminaries and world-class sommeliers.

In a marriage of the world’s best gourmet experts, The MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series is a partnership between esteemed fine wine experts Robert Parker Wine Advocate and the iconic guide to dining excellence MICHELIN guide. Stemming from a shared passion to showcase the best of the gourmet world, the collaboration brings internationally recognised culinary experiences to a wider audience. Support comes from Melco Crown Entertainment, the Official Title Partner for the culinary series.

Exclusive tasting menus from the world’s best chefs and rising stars are presented in Local Chef and International Chef Showcases, each menu is meticulously paired with critically acclaimed wines chosen by Robert Parker Wine Advocate’s internationally renowned wine experts.

MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series 2017 – Jie Ming Jian of Canton 8,Canton 8 Fried Chicken

The MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series’ International Chef Showcase brings some of the biggest names in cooking to Hong Kong and Macau, some of whom are showcasing a menu in the region for the first time. Food lovers should mark their calendars for the arrival of Yoshinori Ishii, known for his refined and modern Japanese dishes at two Michelin starred London restaurant Umu.

The Local Chef Showcase features culinary talent from Hong Kong and Macau’s finest restaurants recognised in the current edition of the MICHELIN guide. Presenting an exclusive five-course dinner will be Umberto Bombana, whose inimitable Hong Kong dining room 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana has, since 2011, been awarded three Michelin stars, the first Italian restaurant outside of Italy to have done so.

MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series 2017 – International Chef Showcase with Jie Ming Jian of Canton 8, 22 – 25 Feb

Kicking off the MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series 2017, and adding to the line-up of recently attained stars, is Jie Ming Jian from Canton 8, one of the first restaurants in Mainland China to be awarded two Michelin stars in the last year’s inaugural Shanghai edition. The highly anticipated Cantonese menu specially created for the Series will run from 22 to 25 February at the Pearl Dragon in Macau with limited seats available for lunch and dinner priced from USD60 to USD160.  The venue at Studio City, Macau, is a fitting one, as the year-old restaurant was itself awarded its first star in the MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau in 2016. MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau Dining Series 2017 – International Chef Showcase with Chen Kentaro of Shisen Hanten, 2 – 3 Mar

From 2 to 3 March, Chen Kentaro from Shinsen Hanten will be coming to Hong Kong to present a dining event for the very first time. Chen Kentaro will showcase his mastery of Sichuan cuisine which earned the restaurant two Michelin stars in 2016 and the honour of the highest Michelin-rated Chinese restaurant in Singapore’s inaugural Guide. The six-course menu is inspired by founder of the restaurant and Chen Kentaro’s grand-father, Chef Chen Kenmin, known as the “Father of Sichuan cuisine in Japan”. Hosted at Dim Sum Library, dinners are priced at USD285 with tickets available here.
