MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau’s first ever MICHELIN guide Street Food Festival is set to debut in Macau’s Studio City entertainment resort this October. From 5 to 8 October, the four-day event will see chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, celebrated Bib Gourmand and Michelin-recommended eateries across Asia serving their street food creations and signature delicacies. The gourmet festival is free admission and will take place from 12 noon to 8pm daily at Studio City’s Macau Gourmet Walk, which resembles the historic streets of Macau. Food lovers will be able to savour a myriad of flavours from some of Asia’s top chefs under one roof.

Organised by MICHELIN guide Hong Kong Macau and Robert Parker Wine Advocate, the inaugural MICHELIN guide Street Food Festival in Macau is supported by Official Title Partner Melco Resorts and Entertainment. In the nostalgic setting of Studio City’s Macau Gourmet Walk, quaint indoor streets will be buzzing with decorated stalls showcasing some of Asia’s very best street food offerings. Tastebuds will be taken on a journey through the rich, diverse and exciting flavours from the different corners of Asia, including Singapore’s famed hawker stalls, Shanghainese dim sum, Japanese little eats and Macau’s very own classic Chinese favourites.

Festival-goers can eat their way through signature dishes and one-off festival creations at value-for-money prices. Small plates start from just MOP40 and can be bought with Street Food Coupons purchased at the event. A star-studded line-up of eateries from Singapore and Japan will be coming to Macau to cook for the very first time, including the world’s first-ever street food stall to have been awarded a Michelin star, Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle from Singapore. The humble hawker turned Michelin-acclaimed chef, Chan Hon Meng, will be flying in to cook at Studio City alongside fellow Singaporean Wayne Liew from Keng Eng Kee, the popular street food stall known for its fusion of Hainanese cuisine with Malaysian-style Zi Char home-style food. Other talented chefs from Singapore cooking up a storm at the festival will be Manjunath Mural from the one-starred Song of India as well as Han Liguang from Labyrinth which has been awarded its first star in the recently announced MICHELIN guide Singapore 2017. Guests should also look out for Singapore’s Malcolm Lee from one-starred Candlenut, the world’s first and only Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant, and Japan’s Yoshihiro Tanaka from Kougaryu Honten, who will be preparing his Bib Gourmand-awarded takoyaki in three different flavours.

Three of Studio City’s signature restaurants, one-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Pearl Dragon, Michelin-recommended Shanghainese restaurant Shanghai Magic and Michelin-recommended Bi Ying which serves northern and southern Chinese flavours will also be showcasing creative delicacies specially made for the festival.

Patrick Sauze, Spokesperson at Robert Parker Wine Advocate says, “Asia is recognised as having the world’s best street food and we are thrilled to invite some of our most talented chefs and their teams to cook together in Macau for the very first time. We are very honoured to have the full support of Melco Resorts & Entertainment whose flagship resorts currently offer the most Michelin-starred dining establishments in Macau and have been contributing to Macau’s transformation into a top gastronomic destination. Foodies, families and friends can discover their favourite street eats, soak up the buzzing festival atmosphere and savour flavours old and new. The MICHELIN guide Street Food Festival in Macau will truly be a unique dining experience for all food lovers to mark in their calendars.”

While at Studio City to savour delights from the Street Food Festival, guests can enjoy the thrills of the cinematically-themed entertainment resort such as the world’s first and Asia’s highest figure-8 Ferris wheel ‘Golden Reel’, the 4D simulation ride ‘Batman Dark Flight’, law-defying performances in ‘The House of Magic’ as well as the indoor play center ‘Warner Bros. Fun Zone’.
