Images of Tasmania’s wild west coast as nature’s playground for “microadventurers” are set to reach thousands of engaged and intrepid travellers.

The Cradle Coast Authority’s new tourism campaign, created in partnership with Spirit of Tasmania and We Are Explorers focuses on the West Coast’s abundant natural offerings.

A team of five content creators from We Are Explorers, led by company founder Henry Brydon, descended on the Cradle Coast at the end of 2017 spending five days immersed in the West Coast.

“The partnership we struck with We Are Explorers and Spirit of Tasmania is a perfect fit for current and emerging markets,” Cradle Coast Authority Tourism Manager, Theresa Lord said.

“We have incredible natural offerings right here on our doorstep, and our visitors can’t seem to get enough of the unique experiences to be found in Tassie’s West.

“It’s an opportunity to shed light on the natural value of our region, not only as a tourism destination but also an important ecological ark such as the Tarkine (takanya) which is a critical migration route for the Orange Bellied Parrot, one of the world’s rarest and most endangered species.”

“The footage, photos and stories are stunning,” Ms Lord said.

“And it’s always lovely to see and hear an outsider’s perspective on what we so often take for granted.”

CCA CEO, Brett Smith said that the campaign reinforces that we have some much to be proud of and protect.

“Our natural and productive landscapes are some of the most unique in the world,” Mr Smith said.

“That is our brand, and that brand is only as strong as those who prioritise, protect and enhance what we already have in our region.”

We Are Explorers (who refer to themselves as “an unruly tribe of weekend vagabonds & microadventurers who hear the call of the Australian wild”) have impressive engagement and a loyal following of hundreds of thousands of people across the team’s combined digital reach.

The campaign takes in the trip from Melbourne aboard Spirit of Tasmania, followed by the team’s journey through to the west coast, from the majesty of Montezuma Falls to Queenstown’s rugged landscapes and the Tarkine’s (takanya) pristine beauty.
