Europe’s leading frequent flyer and awards programme is committed to climate protection and cooperates with myclimate, a Swiss foundation for effective climate protection.
From now on, members can donate between 3,000 and 50,000 award miles for each flight on miles-and-more.com under “Donate miles” and thus offset their CO2 footprint. On swiss.myclimate.org, members were already able to calculate the emissions of their flight using a CO2 calculator and donate a certain amount of money. With Miles & More, the partnership with myclimate within the Lufthansa Group has now been further expanded.
All award miles donations for myclimate directly benefit a project in the Brazilian Amazon region. The aim is to generate innovative and ecological electricity by switching from diesel to climate-friendly FSC wood chips in conjunction with sustainable forestry to protect the area. This saves around 48,000 tons of CO2 and per year a total of around 144 million liters of diesel.
