Millennium Plaza Dubai marks Earth Hour 2017

March 31, 2017 Responsible Tourism No Comments Email Email

The Millennium Plaza Dubai, a luxury accommodation along Sheikh Zayed Road, took part in the annual Earth Hour by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical devices in the hotel for one hour on 25th March 2017.

Earth Hour aims to encourage an inter-connected global community to share the opportunities and challenges of creating a sustainable world. At Millennium Plaza Dubai, lights were switched off in different parts of the hotel including the 61st floor where the event took place from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. The 61st floor was lit up with candles and there was a set-up of board games where guests played board games in the dark and interacted with one another. The candles were placed in the shape of the 60 + logo representing the 60 minutes of Earth Hour.

Members of Al Jalila Foundation joined in the celebration as special guests. A cake cutting ceremony with a special cake of the earth was created by the pastry Chef. The cake was cut by members from Al Jalila Foundation along with staff of Millennium Plaza Dubai. Complimentary refreshments that included cup cakes with the 60+ logo were served to all the guests.

Millennium Plaza Dubai supports environmental awareness and focuses on positive actions to address environmental issues by encouraging individuals and organizations to embrace practices that will help reduce electricity and water use to protect and preserve our mother Earth.
