As part of its commitment to Cleanup UAE,  the management team and staff of the Millennium Plaza  Dubai, a luxury hotel along Sheikh Zayed Road, took part in a day-long Beach Cleanup Drive on 28th January 2017.

The Beach Cleanup initiative, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality saw participation of 30 enthusiastic employees of the Millennium Plaza Hotel Dubai that joined hands to be a part of this environmental campaign. The participants gathered to clean the beach area and remove waste and unwanted debris that pose hazard to the environment and also to visitors that frequently visit the area.

Mr. Nemo Acimovic, General Manager of the Millennium Plaza Dubai, said: “As a socially-responsible organization we proudly support the Beach Cleanup initiative as one of the many ways we show our commitment to protecting the environment. We would like to encourage individuals and organizations to embrace such environmentally-friendly practices, and working together to mitigate the environmental impacts will help us all by making the communities in which we live cleaner and healthier.”

Mr. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of waste management department at Dubai Municipality said: “The municipality’s participation is aimed at raising public awareness on the importance of coastal and beach areas, in addition to highlighting the problems and threats to this fragile environment. The most important threat to marine and coastal environments is the accumulated waste resulting from human activities.”

The continuity of the beach clean-up initiative from last year is solely due to the diligence and whole-hearted participation of every individual. Year after year the Millennium Plaza Dubai has been actively participating in several community development and social service efforts including:

  • Supporting Al Noor Training Centre for Special Needs through catering a sumptuous meal for the children.
  • Organizing a blood donation campaign in an effort to educate the community about the importance of donating blood to help save lives and to collect blood for the community.
  • Organizing an Iftar dinner for children of Thalassemia Center at Latifa Hospital during Ramadan.
