Million Dollar Make Over For Arajilla

Arajilla has completed a major refurbishment, delivering even further on its promise of authentic luxury on the World Heritage Listed Lord Howe Island.

With completed works valued at just over 1.1 million dollars, the refurbishments concentrated on upgrading the six Banyan Suites in line with its other accommodation, improving its popular day spa and the guest lounge.

Bill Shead, Arajilla’s Owner, said: ‘Having owned the property for over twenty five years, we’ve been consistently investing in its development with multiple renovations over this time, but this is one of the biggest. The scale of the refurbishment is indicative of our commitment to Lord Howe Island and in providing the best facilities for our guests.’

‘One of the things that many people wouldn’t appreciate is the work that goes into logistics when making these kind of upgrades to a place like Arajilla, with our remote location everything is harder and there is the extra costs of freight and of course, putting up the various tradespeople throughout the project.’

The newly refurbished Banyan Suites take inspiration from the natural surrounds of Arajilla featuring timber floors, natural pure wool carpets and hand crafted furniture built on site by master carpenters. Luxurious soft furnishings by Julie Paterson of Cloth, draw upon the colours of the kentia palms, beach and wooden board walks, adding to the natural organic feel. Features also include newly fitted bathrooms and canopy level lounge area looking out to the treetops.

The upgrade also saw further facilities added to the Arajilla Spa, Ayurveda and Yoga Centre, these included an outdoor bath tub and treatment area under the canopy of the banyan forest.
