Mission accomplished – first Boeing 757 flight to Queenstown a success

March 13, 2014 Airport No Comments Email Email

Queenstown Airport today welcomed its first Boeing 757 – the largest plane ever to land at the airport.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force plane touched down successfully at 11.30am.  It was a proving flight to determine whether the Air Force could land a plane of that size in Queenstown.

The 757 is significantly larger than a Boeing 737-800, which is currently the largest aircraft able to land at Queenstown Airport.
