Professional and amateur fighters will go to battle tomorrow night, when the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) hosts its first Aftershock mixed martial arts (MMA) fight card.

Almost 1,000 people are expected to punch into the Royal ICC for Aftershock 27: Gods of War, to watch 10 bouts including Aftershock’s first female headliner – Kaela ‘Tiger’ Banney (Australia) versus Ibu Takamori (Japan).

It’s the first time the Royal ICC has hosted a fight card in the Aftershock MMA series, which is based in Brisbane and welcomes fighters from across the nation.

The Royal ICC’s General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said he’s thrilled to be welcoming Aftershock MMA to the world-class venue for the first time.

“From hosting an indoor sporting event to a banquet with Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show award-winning food and wine, it really shows the diversity of events we are able to stage,” he said.

“The Royal ICC has been able to adapt perfectly to cater for this event, with two of its halls combining to fit a 6.1 metre hexagon cage arena and seating, while the meeting rooms will be used as warm up rooms for the fighters.”

Aftershock 27: Gods of War will kick off at 5pm.
