The Principality of Monaco is celebrating National Day today. With an exciting line up of different events throughout the whole month, November is often referred to as being the “sunny month” of Monaco with a delightful mix of festivities and traditions taking place in the glamorous principality.

Since 1952, 19th November has been the occasion for the national community to celebrate its identity and traditions through a mix of festivities and ceremonies. Nowadays, the “Fête Nationale Monégasque” is no longer just a reflection of Monegasque specificities and traditions but has become a day of high-end entertainment including festive and cultural highlights such as gala evenings, shows, concerts, parades, fireworks at the famous Port Hercules and an amusement fair on Albert I Quay.

At this special day official events start at 10am with a Te Deum Mass in the Cathedral of Monaco. Performances of the renowned Philharmonic Orchestra of Monaco are part of the mass. An excellent opportunity to see the pomp and circumstance of the Principality, visitors can see the Knights of Malta, distinguished ambassadors, consuls and state officials decked out in medal-laden uniforms as they congregate in the Place St. Nicholas after the mass. Then it is off to the Prince’s Palace where onlookers can see the Princely family wave to the crowd from the windows of the palace.

Monaco AerialOn the run up to the 19th November, Monaco Mairie has organized a number of free events to mark the National Holiday. Events will be held at famous “Café de Paris” where guests are invited to celebrate Monaco National Day with chef Jean-Claude Brugel’s menu of Monegasque dishes. The “Brasserie de Monaco” is decked out in red and white for a Fete Nationale evening and specially brewed blackberry beer is on tap to celebrate the “Fete Nationale”.

For a taste, excellent entertainment was offered on the night prior to the National Day already with a spectacular show of fireworks accompanied by music being performed over the famous Port Hercules, Monaco’s harbor hosting the world’s most luxurious yachts.
