As Monaco is preparing for the second edition ofTEDxMonteCarlo, the Principality is taking an increasingly forward-thinking approach, putting innovation at the core of its strategy.

Themed ‘License to Know’, this year’s TEDxMonteCarlo will take place on Saturday, 11th of November 2017, at Monaco’s iconic Grimaldi Forum that is expecting more than 600 attendees for the event. Over 16 speakers from around the world will share their passion and spark new ideas on a wide range of front-page topics such as entrepreneurship, safety, security and transparency.

From innovators to chess players, and entrepreneurs to doctors, the ideas explored will challenge the status quo and deliver new solutions to our changing times.

Amongst the notable speakers of the event will be the native Monegasque Pierre Frolla, four times free diving world champion and founder of “L’école Bleue” (the Blue School Sea Academy) where he devotes himself to teaching his passion and dedication to saving the underwater world. Promoting his dearest values, he is also the ambassador of the Princess Charlene Foundation.

The desire to improve the world through innovation has always been at the heart of Monaco. Ruled by one of the oldest monarchies in Europe, Monaco is home to over 120 nationalities and leads the world in the exploration of renewable energy, whilst also pioneering in environmental ocean and research, carbon neutrality and sustainability.

Sustainability and stewardship have been amongst the most important priorities of the Principality for decades with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation continuing to support sustainable and ethical projects which focus on climate change and developing renewable energies; combating the loss of biodiversity; and improving universal access to clean water and fighting desertification.

TEDxMonteCarlo perfectly complements Monaco’s overall mission by connecting the community, inspiring innovation, and fostering visionary ideas.

For those unfamiliar with TED, it started as a small nonprofit, in 1984, bringing people together to share “Ideas Worth Spreading” from three disciplines – Technology, Entertainment and Design.  These ideas are shared in the form of a story or “TED Talk”, which last a maximum of 18 minutes.  Since its inception, TED conferences have included speakers like Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, and Quincy Jones who have spoken alongside athletes and grass root musicians.
