Montaigne Announced as Support on Tegan And Sara’s Twilight at Taronga Presented by Anz And Melbourne Zoo Twilights Shows

As Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ and Melbourne Zoo Twilights enter their third weekend of live performances, we are excited to announce Australian art-pop darlingMontaigne joins the 2017 series as support act for Tegan and Sara in both Sydney and Melbourne this March.

Grammy nominated twin-sister- duo Tegan and Sara return to Australian shores next month, performing under the stars at Melbourne Zoo on Wednesday 8 March and Taronga Zoo on Thursday 9 March for two evenings of upbeat, heartfelt indie-pop. In some of her first shows for the year, Montaigne will open for the Canadian superstars both nights, the news following her two Top 25 features in triple j’s recently announced Hottest 100 of 2016. Tickets to both shows are on sale now.

Hot off the heels of last weekend’s stellar run of performances which included sold out shows from The Rubens in both cities, Hoodoo Gurus’ sold out show in Melbourne and Killing Heidi’s eagerly anticipated reunion in Sydney, this weekend sees stunning country singer-songwriter Kasey Chambersperform at Taronga Zoo on Friday night performing material from her newly released #1 album. In a massive double headline show, beloved indie-rockers Ball Park Music and The Jungle Giants come together for two sold out performances, playing in Melbourne on Friday night and Sydney on Saturdaynight. World-renowned ABBA tribute Björn Again will transform Melbourne Zoo into a ‘70s Swedish disco on Saturday night, performing smash hits from one of the world’s most iconic music groups of all time.

The 2017 series celebrates a diverse array of Australian talent such as rock outfit george in two special reunion shows, and The Living End ‘Twangin’ at Twilight’ accompanied by different special guests in each city, namely Josh Pyke, Jimmy Barnes and Dan Sultan. Renowned internationals also join both Zoo lineups including hazy-rock star Kurt Vile and Canadians indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara and singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright who will both perform Closing Week of the series. Dream-pop quartet Warpaint, along with celebrated Australian rocker Paul Dempsey are taking to the stage in Melbourne only, whilst the likes of country songstress Kasey Chambers, Jet and Scottish alt-rockers Teenage Fanclub are performing solely in Sydney.

The ultimate destination for music lovers each year, Melbourne Zoo Twilights and Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ will see audiences soak up the splendour of summer, as the sun sets over the inner-city gem Melbourne Zoo and harbour-fronted Taronga Zoo.

All proceeds from the Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ and Melbourne Zoo Twilights summer concert series go towards their respective conservation work. In 2017, Taronga Zoo will champion the first global community action tool, Wildlife Witness to help in the fight against illegal wildlife trade. Zoos Victoria have been fighting the extinction of the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, playing a key role in the recovery of the species, increasing community awareness and building programs to reintroduce it to the wild.
